Overview
At Churchfield, each class has an Eco-Warrior who has been voted for by their peers. Our Eco-Warriors are committed to making positive environmental changes around our school, and meet termly to discuss how and measure the progress.

Our Action Plan
The Warriors have three key goals which they would like to achieve by the end of next year:
1) To reduce the amount of litter around our school
ACTION A: Having a litter picking rota.
ACTION B: Campaigning to reduce litter in the areas around out school, particularly outside the front gates.
2) To increase the amount of time spent tending the allotments
ACTION A: Start a Gardening Club next year.
ACTION B: Have a Year group rota for using the allotments to grow seasonal vegetables.
3) To encourage everyone to reduce, reuse and recycle plastics and food waste
ACTION A: Organising a poster competition to inform everyone about what they can recycle in school and encourage them to do so.
ACTION B: Setting up a box in each classroom to collect rubbish to send to Nursery, Reception and Year One for junk modelling.
ACTION C: To fund raise for compost bins.
Our Progress
We would like to say a big thank you to the team of volunteers from Santander who helped prepare the allotments in September 2019 for children to begin growing produce. Using the allotments more is an action on our school’s Eco Action Plan, and this has made it possible to allocate an allotment to each year group and begin planting.

It is important to us that our school grounds are left clear of litter. Therefore, we are excited to release our litter picking rota. Each year group across the school will have the opportunity to contribute to keeping our school rubbish-free.
Friday Switch Off
On Friday 27th September, pupils at Churchfield joined in with the global protests about Climate Change by taking part in a ‘switch-off’ between 2 and 3pm. We turned off all electrical items, including our computers, interactive screens and lights!
